Itinerary:
Day 1: Bucharest – Peleș Castle – Bran Castle
Depart Bucharest in the morning for Transylvania. Your first stop is Peleș Castle in Sinaia, the Neo-Renaissance summer residence of the Romanian Royal Family, surrounded by manicured gardens and alpine forests. Continue to legendary Bran Castle, perched dramatically on a rocky outcrop. Explore its historic chambers housing Queen Maria’s art collection while learning about the myths and royal history of the fortress.
Day 2: Mountain Villages – Brașov – Bear Tracking Experience
Begin the day with a gentle hike through the picturesque mountain villages of the Piatra Craiului region, meeting local farmers and sampling traditional artisanal cheeses. Continue to medieval Brașov for a tour of its historic center and the iconic Gothic Black Church. In the late afternoon, venture deep into the Carpathian forest with a local ranger to observe wild brown bears in their natural habitat from a safe hideout.
Day 3: Șinca Veche Cave Monastery – Bâlea Lake – Bucharest
Visit the ancient Șinca Veche Cave Monastery, a spiritual site believed to date back thousands of years. Head high into the Făgăraș Mountains to Bâlea Glacier Lake, located at an altitude of over 2,000 meters along the spectacular Transfăgărășan route. Enjoy a picnic or sample local dishes by the lake before your return drive to Bucharest.
