You will discover Saint-Émilion and Pomerol as two of Bordeaux’s most prestigious expressions, understanding how terroir defines distinct styles within the Right Bank. While Saint-Émilion combines history, tradition and a great diversity of soils, you will appreciate that Pomerol, smaller and more compact, is characterized by clay soils with the presence of gravel and iron, giving rise to wines of great depth and an especially velvety texture.
Throughout the experience, you will approach the character of Pomerol through its flagship grape variety, Merlot, which thrives in these soils and usually produces exuberant wines, with ripe fruit, silky tannins and a very distinctive richness. By contrasting both regions, you will identify how each one balances power and finesse, and why their wines are recognized for their remarkable aging capacity.
The itinerary will include pick-up at your accommodation in Bordeaux and a guided walking tour of the medieval village of Saint-Émilion, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will enjoy a tasting at a local wine shop in the village and visit a Grand Cru Classé winery in Saint-Émilion with tasting included. Later, you will continue to Pomerol to visit a winery in the appellation, also followed by a tasting, before returning to your accommodation in Bordeaux.
