Discover the pivotal moments of D-Day on a full-day small-group tour from Bayeux, visiting Utah Beach, Sainte-Mère-Église, Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach and the Normandy American Cemetery.
Follow the story of the American D-Day landings on a full-day small-group excursion from Bayeux, designed for those seeking a complete and accessible view of the American sector in Normandy.
You'll meet your driver-guide at Place de Québec, in Bayeux, where you'll join your small group and receive a brief introduction before setting off in a comfortable air-conditioned minivan to Utah Beach, the westernmost American landing zone. There you'll walk along the coast where troops landed on June 6, 1944, while your guide explains the objectives and key moments of one of the most successful D-Day landings.
You'll continue to Sainte-Mère-Église, one of the first towns liberated by American paratroopers, where you'll have free time to walk its streets, visit the church, or enter a museum on your own. A stop is made in this same town for lunch on your own at one of the local cafés or bakeries.
You'll then head to Pointe du Hoc (when access is available), where U.S. Army Rangers scaled the cliffs under enemy fire to neutralize German artillery. You'll walk through the craters, bunkers, and artillery positions while your guide recounts the impact of this mission.
The excursion continues at Omaha Beach, the most contested landing sector, where you'll walk along the sand and learn how American forces managed to advance despite strong German defenses. The day ends at the Normandy American Cemetery, overlooking Omaha Beach, where you can walk among the rows of white crosses and Stars of David and take a moment to reflect on the more than 9,000 soldiers buried there, before heading back to Bayeux.
Held in small groups, this excursion offers a closer, more personalized experience, ideal for
