This guided day trip offers the chance to discover Stirling, the most important city of medieval Scotland, exploring its Old Town, its castle and the story of its most famous hero, William Wallace.
The meeting point is in central Edinburgh, from where the group walks with the guide to Waverley station to travel by train to Stirling. The train ticket is not included: each passenger buys it on the day at the station, with the guide's help.
On arrival, the tour begins with an introduction to the city and continues on foot through the most emblematic streets of the historic centre. It then reaches the Church of the Holy Rude, which played a very important role in the country's history, followed by a walk through Stirling's oldest cemetery, linked to the Protestant Reformation. Afterwards, there is free time for lunch.
Next comes the guided visit to Stirling Castle, considered the most important castle of medieval Scotland, a strategic stronghold for centuries and a key setting in the Scottish Wars of Independence. Inside, the visit covers the royal palace, built in the 16th century and inspired by the French architecture of the time, the King's Old Building, once the lodgings of James IV and Margaret Tudor and now home to the museum of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders regiment, and many other rooms of the castle. Depending on the option booked, castle admission is either included or must be purchased independently.
At the end of the visit, passengers can return to Edinburgh with the guide or stay in Stirling and travel back on their own.

Meeting point
351 High Street (Royal Mile), Edinburgh EH1 1PW, opposite the Thistle Do Nicely souvenir shop. The guide will be waiting for participants at this point and can be identified by a black umbrella. From there, the group walks with the guide to Waverley station to take the train to Stirling.
