Discover the beauty of the Danube Bend by visiting Esztergom, Visegrád, and Szentendre—three of Hungary’s most picturesque and historically significant towns. This full-day excursion blends history, culture, and scenic views along the famous “Blue Danube.”
Your journey begins in Esztergom, Hungary’s former capital and the heart of the country’s Catholic Church. Visit the stunning Esztergom Basilica, the largest cathedral in Hungary and the burial place of notable cardinals. Then cross into Slovakia to enjoy an unforgettable panoramic view of the Basilica from across the river.
Continue to Visegrád, known for its 13th-century citadel. From the hilltop fortress you’ll take in one of the most breathtaking panoramas of the Danube Valley. Here you’ll also have free time for lunch (not included).
The last stop is Szentendre, a charming Baroque town often called the “Artists’ Village.” Stroll through its narrow cobblestone streets and colorful houses, and take the opportunity to visit local museums such as the Margit Kovács Ceramic Museum or the Marzipan Museum.
From May to September (Thursday to Sunday), return to Budapest aboard a scenic Danube riverboat, ending the tour at the central pier.
