Discover the vineyards of the Loire Valley on a full-day, small-group tour from Tours, with guided visits and tastings in Bourgueil and Chinon, plus free time in Chinon's historic center.
This full-day tour explores the vineyards of the Loire Valley, one of France's most diverse wine regions, departing from Tours. In the morning, the visit begins in the Bourgueil wine region, where guests tour a traditional winery to learn about the full winemaking process, from vineyard work to fermentation and aging. Bourgueil wines, made primarily from the Cabernet Franc grape, are tasted in a guided session.
The tour continues to the historic town of Chinon, known for its medieval half-timbered houses, Renaissance façades and the royal fortress overlooking the town on the banks of the Vienne River. Guests have free time to explore the old town and have lunch at their own expense.
In the afternoon, the tour visits a winery in the Chinon wine region, known for its red wines made from Cabernet Franc, where a second guided tasting takes place, comparing different wine styles. The tour ends with the return to Tours.
The tour includes transport in an air-conditioned minivan, an English-speaking guide, and two guided wine tastings.
