Full description
A visit to the Wicklow Mountains, the monastic settlement of Glendalough and the Powerscourt gardens, with an Italian-speaking guide/driver.
The tour departs from Dublin toward the Wicklow Mountains, known as the Garden of Ireland, with landscapes of deep valleys and glacial lakes that have served as the backdrop for numerous films. The first stop is the Glendalough valley, "the valley of the two lakes," where you can explore the 6th-century Celtic monastic settlement, with its 34-metre round tower and Celtic crosses, and enjoy free time walking through Wicklow National Park and admiring its two lakes. The walk is optional and moves at the group's own pace.
The tour then continues to the Powerscourt Estate, a 70-hectare neoclassical mansion, where there's free time to stroll through the Italian and Japanese gardens, see the pet cemetery and the Pepperpot Tower, with access limited to the estate's outdoor grounds.
Before heading back to Dublin, the tour stops for lunch, provided that at least 50% of the group wants to eat: if that threshold is met, lunch is at Johnnie Fox's Pub, a traditional mountain restaurant, with a set menu (no à la carte option); if not, lunch is at Powerscourt instead.
Combining nature, Celtic history and iconic landscapes in a single tour, it's an ideal experience for discovering Ireland's green interior in one day.
