The history of Saint-Tropez is closely tied to the sea and its fishing traditions. At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, the town began attracting artists and writers, marking the start of a cultural period that foreshadowed its later tourist fame. The arrival of figures like Maupassant and Paul Signac established Saint-Tropez as an artistic and bohemian destination.
In the 1960s, Brigitte Bardot purchased a property in what was then a small fishing village, creating a special connection that laid the foundation for the myth of Saint-Tropez. Today, the town blends glamour with authenticity, attracting celebrities, art lovers, history enthusiasts, and fans of the sea and heritage.
Strolling through the old town’s charming streets reveals the genuine spirit of the village. After approximately an hour’s drive along the scenic road, you will arrive in Saint-Raphaël, from where you can enjoy a boat trip along the Gulf of Saint-Tropez or Port Grimaud, available between April 9 and October 31.
By avoiding the summer traffic jams, we ensure free time to explore the town, with plenty of lunch options available (not included). Highlights include the port, the old town, the local market on Tuesdays and Saturdays, a slice of the famous tarte tropézienne, and optionally visiting a museum.
After returning by shuttle boat, the tour concludes with a drive back to Nice.
