You will discover the cultural and panoramic heart of Santorini on a guided walking tour of Fira that combines history, local traditions, and privileged views over the caldera. This tour will allow you to see the main monuments of the island’s capital as you walk through its most iconic streets and understand how everyday life has adapted to this unique volcanic environment.
The experience will begin in Fira, where you will visit some of its most representative buildings and spaces, such as the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist, the Monastery of the Dominican Sisters, Megaro Gyzi, the Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral, and the complex known as the Three Bells of Fira. Throughout the walk, your guide will explain the historical and religious role of these places, as well as the city’s urban evolution, always with the caldera as a backdrop.
During the tour, you will visit the well-known “Gold Street,” famous for its artisan jewelry shops, and discover a traditional leather sandal workshop alongside local art galleries. You will have the chance to taste an artisanal ice cream and walk along a short stretch of Santorini’s historic donkey paths, once used to transport goods and connect the port with the town. The experience includes a full cable car ride, descending from the top of the caldera to the picturesque old port on a panoramic journey of approximately five minutes.
The walk will continue through the old Venetian quarter, between churches with open sea views, until you reach the edge of the caldera and arrive at one of the island’s most photographed blue domes, located in Firostefani. The tour will end at a wine restaurant located in the center of Fira, which houses a cellar with renowned local wines and unique labels from different parts of the world, where you may choose to enjoy a wine tasting (not included in the base price).
