Full description
Discover in one full day the most iconic monuments, squares and corners of Prague: the Castle, St. Vitus Cathedral, Charles Bridge, Kampa Island, the Jewish Quarter and Old Town Square, among many others. With an official guide and the option to add traditional Czech food and a boat ride.
The tour begins at the exit of Malostranská metro station, the central station of Malá Strana (Lesser Town). From there, a tram is taken towards the Castle district.
After passing through security, you'll visit the four courtyards of Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral, whose construction took 1,000 years and which houses the tombs of the patron saints and kings of Bohemia.
The descent from the Castle is made along Nerudová Street, one of the few that still preserves the mystical symbols once used to mark houses before the reign of Maria Theresa I of Austria. Back in Malá Strana, the route passes the Plague Column and St. Nicholas Church, whose prominent domes can be spotted from Charles Bridge. Along the bridge, you'll see the Baroque statues of Bohemia's patron saints, including that of St. John of Nepomuk, a mandatory stop — according to legend — for anyone wishing to return to Prague.
On the other side of the river lies the Old Town, where there's a break of approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes for lunch. Those who selected the meal option will enjoy, at a traditional Czech restaurant, a traditional Czech dish accompanied by a Czech beer (or water or a soft drink, as preferred). Those who did not select this option may still join the group at the same restaurant or choose another one on their own during this free time.
The next stop is the Jewish Quarter, known both for its synagogues — including the Spanish Synagogue — and its historic cemetery. The tour continues past the Old Town's St. Nicholas Church, Franz Kafka's birth house and, via Paris Street, reaches Old Town Square, home to the Jan Hus Memorial, the Church of Our Lady before Týn, the Old Town Hall and the Astronomical Clock.
The guided tour ends passing by the founding seat of Charles University — the oldest in Central Europe —, the Cubist House of the Black Madonna, the Powder Tower and the Municipal House.
For those who selected the boat ride option, it takes place after the guided visit, between 5:30 PM and 6:30 PM.
