Zipaquirá: Journey to the Origin (Much more than Salt). Discover the Muisca legacy and the mystical Salt Cathedral 180 meters underground on a route connecting myths, artisans, and the pride of our cyclists.
Why is Zipaquirá a world destination? It is not just because of its Salt Cathedral; it is because here the earth becomes art and history becomes legend. We invite you on a journey that connects the Muisca origin with the vibrant daily life of one of Colombia's most iconic towns. Unlike conventional tours, we don't just visit the salt cathedral; we reveal the complete history from our roots. Our journey begins by mapping a route to the heart of the Muisca cosmogony, honoring the heritage of our "beetles": we will discover why these slopes forged giants like Egan Bernal and understand the connection between Andean geography and our cyclists' resilience, while enjoying origin coffee and "bocadillo."
The deep immersion starts upon entering the Salt Cathedral, a miracle of engineering and faith 180 meters underground. We will guide you through monumental naves so you can understand how mining efforts transformed a dark pit into Colombia's number one underground wonder. More than a religious visit, it is an encounter with mysticism. Upon exiting, we will visit the Archaeological Museum to discover the mysteries of our ancestors and experience a privileged encounter with a master craftsman, learning firsthand about the art of carving. The journey concludes in the Historic Center, walking through its Main Plaza surrounded by colonial architecture, celebrating our countryside's diversity with regional gastronomy and Andean music.
