Discover the landscapes of Connemara and Kylemore Abbey on an excursion from Galway, with a sheepdog demonstration at a traditional farm, a visit to Leenane and pick-up at selected hotels.
This excursion travels through the Connemara region, one of the most representative areas of the west of Ireland, known for its mountain landscapes, lakes and Gaelic culture. Along the way, the route crosses rural areas with views of the Twelve Bens mountain range and its characteristic stone walls.
The tour heads first to Kylemore Abbey, a 19th-century castle converted into a Benedictine monastery. Free time is provided to explore Kylemore Abbey, with entrance included to the grounds, the Gothic church and the Victorian gardens. A stop is also made in the village of Leenane.
The tour continues to a traditional farm in Joyce Country, where a sheepdog demonstration takes place, showing the dogs working with sheep, a key practice in Irish rural life. Depending on the season, it may be possible to interact with puppies or lambs, before returning to Galway.
