You will depart from your hotel in Hoi An towards My Son Sanctuary, a UNESCO World Heritage Site considered the most important religious center of the ancient Cham civilization and often known as the “Angkor Wat of Vietnam”. Throughout the tour, you will enter a valley covered with vegetation and surrounded by mountains, where history and landscape will create a particularly evocative atmosphere.
Upon arrival, you will begin a guided exploration of this archaeological complex, which served as the spiritual and political capital of the Champa Kingdom between the 4th and 13th centuries. As you walk through the site, you will understand the relevance of My Son within the historical development of the region and the way this enclave concentrated ceremonies and symbols of power for centuries.
During the visit, you will explore temple ruins built mainly with red bricks without mortar, a remarkable example of Cham architectural techniques. You will observe stone carvings, sculptures linked to Hindu deities —especially Shiva— and ancient Sanskrit inscriptions that will reflect the kingdom’s cultural and religious connection with India, with explanations that will help you interpret every detail.
Throughout the tour, your guide will explain the context of the Champa civilization, the importance of Hindu worship practices, and the restoration work that seeks to preserve this heritage, even after the wear of the centuries and the damage suffered during the Vietnam War. If available during your visit, you may also see a traditional Cham cultural performance with music and dance, completing the experience with a broader view of the historical identity of My Son.
