Full description
Private tour of the Musei Vaticani, the Cappella Sistina and the Basilica di San Pietro with timed entry and direct access from the museums to the basilica
This private tour visits the Musei Vaticani, the Cappella Sistina and the Basilica di San Pietro with a guide dedicated to your group, who adapts the explanations to your interests. The meeting point is Caffè Vaticano, across from the main entrance to the museums, and entry is with timed tickets and group access.
The route begins in the Museo Pio-Clementino, with classical works such as the Apollo Belvedere, the Belvedere Torso and Nero's red marble bathtub. It continues through the Galleria dei Candelabri, the Galleria degli Arazzi and the Galleria delle Carte Geografiche, where the guide explains how these rooms were designed to impress distinguished visitors.
Next come the Stanze di Raffaello, with The School of Athens, and the Appartamento Borgia. Before entering the Cappella Sistina, the guide explains Michelangelo's ceiling and The Last Judgment, as talking is not allowed inside.
From the chapel, the group reaches the Basilica di San Pietro through a special staircase that connects the museums with the basilica, without walking around the complex. The visit ends inside the basilica, in front of Bernini's Baldacchino and Michelangelo's Pietà, with the option to continue exploring on your own. On Wednesday mornings, due to the Papal Audience, the visit does not include entry to the basilica.
