Full description
Zakopane is a town lying at the foot of the Tatra Mountains – the highest mountain range of the Carpathians. Because of the breathtaking landscapes, vicinity of the mountains and the fascinating culture and tradition of the highlanders, Zakopane became a popular tourist resort years ago. The town gained the title of “the winter capital of Poland” due to many skiing slopes and the winter sports infrastructure that has been developed. Nevertheless, it is a perfect place to get away from bustling cities at any time of the year, because the Podhale region has a lot to offer even to the pickiest travelers.
After a two-hour ride from Krakow you will reach the Chocholow village, where thanks to your guide you will get acquainted with the history and traditions of the place. Next, you will head towards Zakopane, where you get off on Koscieliska Street to start the tour with a short visit at a museum and the oldest church and cemetery in the town. To admire the beautiful panorama of the Tatra Mountains, the guide will take you on a funicular up the Gubalowka Hill. After a short stroll along the hill and a ride down the chairlift, you will have some free time for lunch and shopping in the commercial area – Krupowki Street. Later, on the way out of Zakopane, there are two more attractions: the biggest ski jump in Poland and a beautiful, Zakopane-style chapel. After a relaxing journey you will reach Krakow.
