Explore the charming Chartrons district and its wine history on this walking tour with a sommelier, in a small group of up to 15 people, ending with a professional wine and cheese tasting. Over about 1 hour, you'll walk through the streets of the old wine merchants' district, located by the Port of the Moon, discovering the golden age of Bordeaux wine, the region's grape varieties, its major wine regions, the 1855 classification and how to read a label like a professional, among other topics.
Along the way, your sommelier will point out and talk about landmarks visible in the distance, such as the Cité du Vin, the world's largest wine museum, and the Pont de Pierre, built for Napoleon Bonaparte in the early 19th century, while the route itself takes you closer to one of the traditional "Maisons Jumelles," once home to a foreign wine merchant, and the Church of Saint Louis of Chartrons, one of Bordeaux's most iconic churches, before strolling through the district's narrow cobbled streets to reach the wine shop.
There, all the knowledge gained is put into practice with a tasting of 4 organic Bordeaux wines paired with a cheese selection.
