Experience the essence of New York by combining a Harlem gospel service with a tour of the city’s cultural contrasts. This excursion takes you through Harlem, the Bronx, Queens, and Brooklyn, revealing the city’s ethnic and cultural diversity as well as the daily life of New Yorkers.
We begin along the West Side Highway in Manhattan, admiring the Intrepid, the Trump buildings, and the Hudson River separating New York from New Jersey. We will visit the exterior of the legendary Cotton Club, famous for jazz and blues performances, and the Apollo Theater, where stars like Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, the Jackson Five, and Celia Cruz made their debut.
The tour continues to Columbia University and the picturesque streets of Harlem, where we will learn about the neighborhood’s history and evolution. We will then visit the tomb of General Ulysses S. Grant and a Baptist church in Harlem to enjoy a traditional gospel service with singing and local customs.
Next, we move to the northeast of Manhattan, reaching the Bronx. Our first stop is Yankee Stadium, followed by the Civil, Criminal, and Court Houses. We will admire the Big Pun mural and the famous I LOVE THE BRONX graffiti, along with works by Amadou Diallo, Jonathan, and Yadira, celebrating this vibrant and musical borough.
Crossing the Bronx Whitestone Bridge, we arrive in Queens to explore the Malba residential area. From the vehicle, we will see the New York Times printing press, Flushing Meadows Corona Park with the Mets stadium (CitiField), and the US Open National Tennis Center, ending at the Unisphere, a stainless steel globe featured in films such as Men in Black, Captain America, and Tomorrowland.
Finally, we visit Brooklyn and the Williamsburg neighborhood, home to the Orthodox Hasidic Jewish community, the second largest outside Israel. The tour concludes around 3:00 pm, offering two options: stay in Brooklyn to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, or finish at Mulberry Street in Chinatown, from where you can explore the area and nearby neighborhoods such as Little Italy, Soho, and Greenwich Village.
This guided tour provides historical, cultural, and entertaining commentary at every stop. Please note that the itinerary may change due to traffic or weather conditions.
