Discover the peaceful beauty of northern Argentina with this excursion to the charming town of Cachi, one of the most magical destinations in the Calchaquí Valleys of Salta. Nestled at the foot of towering mountains, Cachi is known for its colonial architecture, tranquil atmosphere, and deep historical roots. This tour not only takes you to a scenic village, but also along one of the most spectacular routes in Argentina.
Departing from Salta, the journey passes through the lush Lerma Valley and into the Sub-Andean mountain ranges. The route climbs through the dramatic Escoipe Gorge and the iconic Cuesta del Obispo, a winding mountain road offering breathtaking views and striking contrasts in scenery and climate. From the lush Yungas jungle to the high-altitude arid plains of the Puna, nature transforms before your eyes.
Along the way, we’ll stop at scenic viewpoints for photos and short walks. The highlight of the ascent is the Piedra del Molino lookout, the highest point of the journey at 3,457 meters above sea level, offering expansive views and, with luck, a glimpse of the majestic Andean condor soaring above. From there, we descend along the famous Recta de Tin-Tin inside Los Cardones National Park before arriving in Cachi.
Once in Cachi, you’ll have time to visit its historical church, explore the local museum, and wander through its cobbled streets at your own pace. After lunch and a relaxing break, we’ll return to Salta via the same scenic route, offering more chances to enjoy the spectacular landscapes of northern Argentina.
