You will take a full-day day trip from Bangkok to discover some of Thailand’s best-known markets and the ancient ruins of Ayutthaya, combining local life, commercial tradition, and history in a single day. It will be a long and intense tour, ideal for making the most of the day, so it is recommended to begin the experience well fed and prepared to visit different points of interest.
The first stop will be the market on the railway tracks in Mae Klong, an old market located about 70 kilometers from Bangkok. There, you will be able to observe how the vendors have adapted their stalls to the presence of the railway line, quickly dismantling part of the market when the train approaches and setting it up again after it passes, provided the service is operating normally.
Afterwards, you will continue toward the famous Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, one of the best-known and most touristic in the country. During the visit, you will take an included boat ride through the market, getting closer to a tradition linked to the former importance of rivers and canals as routes for transport and trade in Thailand. After the boat ride, you will have time to eat something on your own before continuing the tour.
Later, the excursion will continue toward Ayutthaya, the former capital of the powerful Kingdom of Siam between the 14th and 18th centuries. This city became one of the great political and commercial centers of Asia, with stable relations with India, China, and other territories in the region, in addition to receiving the arrival of the first Europeans to the Kingdom of Siam during the 16th century.
In Ayutthaya, you will visit three of its most representative temples, discovering the ruins that recall the historical, religious, and architectural importance of the former capital. At the end of the visits, you will return to Bangkok, closing a complete day that will have brought together traditional markets, navigation through canals, Thai history, and the monumental legacy of one of the most important enclaves of the ancient Kingdom of Siam.
