Key highlights include the Civil Forum, the Basilica, the Bath Complex, the House of the Faun, the Lupanare and the haunting plaster casts of the victims. After a break for lunch, the tour continues to Herculaneum, a quieter but incredibly well-preserved Roman town, buried in 79 AD under a thick layer of volcanic material that preserved wooden doors, frescoes, mosaics, furniture and even food.
