You will discover two of the most representative archaeological sites in southern Italy on an excursion that will take you to Pompeii and Herculaneum, Roman cities that were buried after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Beneath layers of volcanic ash, their ruins were exceptionally preserved, allowing you today to explore spaces that reveal everyday life in antiquity in remarkable detail.
Throughout the day, you will walk along ancient streets and enter different urban environments, such as homes, shops, and public buildings, observing how the architecture and the remains recovered during the excavations help reconstruct the history of each city. Accompanied by an authorized expert local archaeological guide, you will follow a contextualized explanation that connects the discoveries with Roman ways of life and the impact of the eruption on the region.
The experience will include transfers on semi-private, air-conditioned buses, allowing you to travel more comfortably between the two sites. In addition, you will have reserved admission to both Pompeii and Herculaneum, making access easier to the UNESCO World Heritage archaeological parks.
After the visits, you will round off the day with lunch at a traditional restaurant on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius, where you will taste local products accompanied by a wine pairing, designed to match the gastronomic selection with chosen wines. In this way, you will end the day combining heritage, history, and the region’s characteristic flavors.
