Full description This fabulous one-day trip to Bulgaria will start in the early morning when we collect you from the meeting point in Bucharest and transport you through a stunning landscape into the foothills of the Balkan Mountains, where the adventure begins.

Upon crossing the Bulgarian border, immerse yourself in the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of the region. Depending on the day, our first stop will be either the majestic Holy Trinity Cathedral in Ruse or the historic Basarbovo Monastery, a captivating cave monastery nestled in the scenic valley of the Roussenski Lom River. We will then continue to the remarkable medieval settlement of Veliko Tarnovo, once the capital of medieval Bulgaria. Prepare to be transported back in time: this beautiful city offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valley, a wealth of history to explore, and breathtaking architecture. Veliko Tarnovo is also home to the magnificent Tsarevets Fortress, the strongest Bulgarian fortification of the Middle Ages. Once a royal residence, this ancient stronghold now stands proudly atop Tsarevets Hill as a striking attraction for visitors.

Once you have explored Veliko Tarnovo and enjoyed lunch, the tour will continue to its final stop; Arbanasi Village. Nestled on a high plateau between the settlements of Veliko Tarnovo and Gorna Oryahovitsa, Arbanasi Village provides spectacular views and incredible examples of medieval architecture dating back several centuries. This tour is truly one for the enthusiastic history buff and anybody that appreciates beautiful buildings, stunning scenery, and the opportunity to discover a little more about Bulgaria.
