Full description
To begin your eerie journey into Rome's dark and mysterious side, we invite you to join us as the sun sets and shadows envelop the rooftops of the Eternal City. Rest assured, our tour offers not only spine-tingling tales but also full protection against the Covid curse!
Prepare to venture into the most haunted alleys of Rome, where chilling mysteries, unsettling conspiracies, gruesome betrayals, murders, and beheadings await your discovery. And yes, you'll even cross the very bridge where the restless soul of a past Pope is rumored to wander at night!
Supernatural forces will be your constant companions as you dive into Rome's spine-tingling stories of the living dead. Raise your hand if you're not afraid of ghosts! After all, the curiosity to uncover which historical figures might still roam the streets of Rome, scaring passersby, is too enticing to resist. The Eternal City's millennium-old history, marked by battles, conquests, intrigues, and mysteries, is a fertile ground for restless souls who refuse to depart the stage as time marches on. Rumor has it that these spirits continue to traverse Rome's alleys, bridges, and squares, casting an eerie presence over this ancient city.
Our tour will lead you to the most enigmatic corners of Rome, accompanied by a guide who will ensure you experience spine-tingling thrills! Brrrr!
So, what are the spine-tingling locations and monuments we'll explore, revealing their secrets and curiosities?
Castel Sant’Angelo: Our eerie adventure begins at Castel Sant'Angelo, where we'll explore its ominous dungeons, once inhabited by nobles, artists, and common criminals. These unfortunate souls shared a grim fate: becoming macabre spectacles for the Roman public, who gathered on the bridge to witness executions. Even centuries after their demise, some swear they hear their voices and moans, evidence that restless souls still haunt this place.
Piazza Pasquino: As we depart the castle, our path leads to Piazza Pasquino, home to the famed 'Pasquino' statue. This ancient Greek hero's bust and puffy face have a curious history. For centuries, the statue served as Rome's most renowned 'talking statue.' Under the cloak of night, satirical verses aimed at mocking politicians and prominent figures of the time were posted around its neck. The statue earned its peculiar name from various origins, including a loose-lipped tavern owner, a nearby schoolteacher's resemblance, or even a clever satirical poet named Pasquino. The mystery continues!
Piazza Navona: This baroque gem hides a tale involving Olimpia Maidalchini Pamphili, known as 'The Popess' and nicknamed 'La Pimpaccia.' Olimpia's insatiable greed for wealth and power ultimately cost her dearly, as legend has it. Our visit will also include the majestic 'Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi' in the square's center. Beware, for those who circle the fountain counterclockwise may lose their beloved. History enthusiasts will be intrigued to learn that the hieroglyphs on the fountain's obelisk are entirely fictional, as Romans stole it before it was finished and carved whimsical symbols to complete the work.
The Pantheon: A masterpiece of Roman engineering, this pagan temple turned Catholic church has a history of being haunted by demons. Stories abound of sinister encounters, including a clash between the magician Pietro Bailardo and the Devil himself, near the temple's moat. Beware when you stroll around the ditch, as a mischievous shadow with a tail and pitchfork may lurk nearby!
Piazza della Minerva: Here, you'll encounter the Minerva obelisk, perched at the center since 1667, and mounted atop a small elephant statue sculpted by Bernini. The elephant amusingly turns its back on the old Inquisition convent nearby, expressing disapproval.
Largo di Torre Argentina: This square is where the great Julius Caesar met his tragic end, a figure shrouded in mystery and intrigue. He remains one of the most enigmatic and influential personalities of the Roman Empire.
Our tour concludes at Piazza Mattei, named after the Giacomo Mattei palace, where even more secrets and stories await your discovery
