New York has always been deeply connected to Italy and the epic story of Italian immigration. This tour is designed to showcase the Italian heritage that transformed the city, guiding you through the hidden “Little Italies” scattered across Manhattan and the Bronx. We begin at Columbus Circle to explore the connection to Christopher Columbus and the origins of Columbus Day, before taking the subway to the authentic heart of the Bronx: Arthur Avenue.
In the Bronx’s Little Italy, the setting that inspired A Bronx Tale, you will meet families who emigrated in the 1950s and 60s and still keep their traditions alive. We will stroll through historic bakeries and delis where Italian is still spoken. The journey continues in Greenwich Village, visiting the café that served New York’s very first cappuccino in 1927, and concludes in Manhattan’s Little Italy. There, amidst stories of the Mafia, classic cinema, and immigrant dreams, we will uncover the true story of those who arrived with nothing but a suitcase and hope.
