You will enjoy a complete Oxford experience combining a walking tour of the historic center with a chauffeured punt ride along the River Cherwell, allowing you to discover the city from both its medieval streets and its riverside landscapes. Throughout the day, you will move naturally between university monuments and quieter corners, with a balanced view of academic life and the surroundings of the colleges.
The day will begin in central Oxford, where you will meet a student or graduate guide and take an approximately 90-minute walking tour. As you explore the city’s key points, you will discover places such as the Central Oxford Viewpoints, the exterior of Balliol College, the Sheldonian Theatre, the Bridge of Sighs, the grand courtyard of the Bodleian Library, and the Radcliffe Camera, as well as passing by the University Church when available, and the exterior of Merton College, with views towards Christ Church Meadows.
During this first part, you will receive explanations focused on Oxford’s history and university culture, including traditions and student life. When open, you will also enter the Divinity School, one of the University’s most remarkable Gothic interiors, and if you wish to go deeper, you may optionally add entry to New College, subject to availability, to access medieval cloisters, gardens, and a chapel founded in 1379.
At the end of the walking tour, you will head to the punting departure point and board a traditional chauffeured punt to navigate along the River Cherwell. You will pass by the Oxford Botanic Garden, the fields of Magdalen College School, and the serene landscapes of Christ Church Meadows, a setting associated with Lewis Carroll and the origin of Alice in Wonderland, before continuing alongside the gardens of St Hilda’s College.
