You will visit Stonehenge, one of the most famous and enigmatic monuments in the United Kingdom, on an excursion from central London that will allow you to approach a unique prehistoric landscape. You will travel in a luxury air-conditioned coach and may choose between a morning or afternoon departure, depending on the option that best suits your itinerary.
Upon arriving at Salisbury Plain, you will take a shuttle that will bring you to the main area of the monument. There, you will contemplate the great circle of Neolithic stones, standing for around 5,000 years, and you will be able to walk around the site while pausing to observe its scale and its placement within the landscape.
During the visit, you will learn about some of the best-known theories surrounding Stonehenge, from its possible connection to sun worship to its use as a ceremonial, healing, or burial site. As you walk, you will gain a better understanding of the monument’s technical complexity, with details such as the joints between the stones and the work required to raise the great blocks with basic tools, while forming your own interpretation of how and why it was created.
To complete the experience, you will visit the Stonehenge Visitor Centre, where you will find permanent and temporary exhibitions featuring items discovered in the area. There, you will see a selection of archaeological objects, such as jewelry, pottery, and tools, and you will have time to stop by the shop and the café before returning to London.
