You will take a walking food tour through the Monti neighborhood, one of the most distinctive areas of central Rome. Accompanied by a local food expert, you will discover different varieties of Italian pizza while exploring streets, squares, and corners frequented by local Romans.
The experience will begin near Cavour metro station, on Via Urbana. From there, you will enter Rione Monti, a historic neighborhood with a bohemian atmosphere, known for its artisan workshops, small shops, and spaces away from the more conventional commercial routes.
Throughout the tour, you will taste at least nine different types of pizza, prepared with traditional and seasonal ingredients, as well as more creative combinations. Specialties may include pizza rossa, pizza bianca, pizzette di sfoglia, pizza fritta, pizza con patate, margherita, and focaccia, bearing in mind that the varieties may change depending on the season.
At each stop, the guide will explain the origin of the recipes, the differences between Roman and Neapolitan pizza styles, and other regional specialties, while also introducing you to the tradition of street food, which has been present in Rome since ancient times. The walk will also allow you to discover small squares, picturesque streets, and different corners of the Monti neighborhood.
The experience will end with a tasting of artisanal gelato at a selected gelateria. At the conclusion, you will be within easy walking distance of the Colosseum and Piazza Venezia, completing a tour that will combine pizza, history, local life, and some of Rome’s most distinctive corners.
