Full description
Discover one of the most significant sites in 20th-century history on this full-day excursion to Terezín, the former Nazi ghetto and concentration camp on the outskirts of Prague. With a Spanish-speaking guide and admission included to the cemetery complex, the Ghetto Museum and the Concentration Camp, this tour offers a deep and respectful look into the memory of the victims of Nazi persecution.
Terezín is sadly known as one of the most tragic symbols of Nazi persecution during the occupation of the Czech lands in World War II. The Terezín Memorial, the only institution of its kind in the Czech Republic, is dedicated to commemorating the victims of Nazi political and racial persecution, promoting the museum, research and educational activities related to this historical period.
The excursion begins at the meeting point at 9:00 AM. During the roughly one-hour journey, the guide will share historical and technical details to help you better understand what happened in Terezín. On leaving Prague, the tour passes the monument to the participants of Operation Anthropoid, and on arrival you will get a panoramic view of the main fortress, an entire town that functioned as a Jewish ghetto.
At the cemetery complex, the guide will explain the numbers, motives and methods of the persecution. You will then visit a museum dedicated to names, facts and testimonies, before continuing to the national cemetery, where the differences between the ghetto and the camp will be explained. The visit to the Concentration Camp follows the same route once walked by the prisoners, starting at the administrative courtyard and passing through the historic "Arbeit macht frei" gate towards the detention area, part of the fortress casemates and the shooting range, ending in part of the residential area.
The return to Prague is expected at approximately 3:00 PM.
