Snorkel with a team of experts at the famous Molokini and at a second lively reef frequented by sea turtles. This adventure lasts approximately five hours, starting with registration 45 minutes before departure at Pacific Whale Foundation’s Ocean Store, located in the Ma‘alaea Harbor shops (parking is free).
The adventure begins at Ma‘alaea Harbor, where you will board the Ocean Odyssey catamaran. This stable-sailing eco-friendly catamaran features amenities such as a galley/bar, two restrooms, a water slide, freshwater showers, and a snorkel platform for easy water entry. The experienced crew will professionally equip you with snorkel gear, which includes optical masks for glasses wearers and life jackets.
En route to Molokini, a semi-submerged volcanic crater and extraordinary marine oasis, the attentive crew will serve a tropical-style continental breakfast (banana bread, assorted pastries, and fresh local fruit) accompanied by freshly brewed Maui coffee and tropical juices. The onboard naturalists will also offer a snorkel lesson and educational talks about Hawaii's reefs and fish, in addition to a Small Naturalists program. In winter, humpback whale sightings are an added bonus.
You will anchor at Molokini with ample time to explore this vibrant reef. The catamaran’s wide steps and slide make it easy and fun to dive in. The next stop is at Turtle Arches, a beautiful reef known for its underwater lava arches and the abundance of green sea turtles. Enjoy a guided reef tour led by one of the onboard naturalists, who will point out things you might miss on your own.
After the dives, a barbecue-style lunch will be served (grilled chicken breast, hot dogs, vegetarian burgers, potato salad, corn and bean salad, and chocolate chip cookies). After snorkeling, adults 21 and older with a valid photo ID can enjoy a complimentary alcoholic beverage (local microbrewery beer, wine, or Mai Tai). Additional alcoholic beverages or cocktails can be purchased at a reasonable price.
As a souvenir, a marine life poster and a collection of downloadable guides on Hawaiian marine life are provided.
