You will take a half-day tour from Ho Chi Minh City to the Cu Chi Tunnels, an underground network considered one of Vietnam’s most significant historical sites from the Vietnam War. Throughout the experience, you will gain context about the site and understand how this system functioned as an essential part of strategy and daily life during times of conflict.
Upon arrival, you will watch an introductory video about the history and construction of the tunnels, and your guide will explain how the Viet Cong used these passages as hiding places, communication and supply routes, as well as homes, hospitals, and combat facilities. You will explore sections that have been widened for visitors and learn about elements such as camouflaged trapdoors, ventilation systems designed to disperse smoke, and different types of traps used during the war, as well as reconstructed areas such as kitchens, meeting rooms, and production zones.
During the visit, you may optionally crawl through a section of tunnel, understanding that those with claustrophobia may skip this part. At the end, you will have the possibility to take part in optional activities, such as firing an AK-47 or M16 rifle at the shooting range for an additional cost, and taste boiled tapioca, a staple food of the guerrilla fighters
