Discover Venaria Reale on a guided tour, known as the "Italian Versailles," with Diana's Room, the Galleria Grande and its gardens.
Discover Venaria Reale on a guided tour, commissioned by Duke Carlo Emanuele II of Savoy and often defined as the "Italian Versailles" for its extraordinary Baroque beauty. Awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in 1997, the Reggia began as a hunting residence designed by architect Amedeo di Castellamonte and was transformed over the centuries thanks to the genius of Filippo Juvarra.
The tour begins in Piazza della Repubblica, in front of the Torre dell'Orologio, venturing into the palace's oldest quarters, such as cellars, kitchens and stables, before moving on to the Royal Apartments, with Diana's Room, adorned with a complex decorative cycle dedicated to the goddess of the hunt, and the Galleria Grande, a masterpiece of European Baroque architecture designed by Juvarra, nearly 80 metres long.
The visit continues through the Cappella di Sant'Uberto, dedicated to the patron saint of hunters, and the Scuderie Juvarriane, now home to the Bucintoro, the only surviving example in the world of a royal ceremonial boat, gifted in 1731 by the Republic of Venice. The tour concludes in the gardens of the Reggia, awarded "Most Beautiful Park in Italy" in 2019, featuring the Gran Parterre, the Tempio di Diana and the Collina delle Rose.
