Upon arrival, a cable car will transport you to the entrance of this enchanting underground world. Step into a mesmerizing labyrinth of natural ice sculptures and formations, spanning an impressive 42 kilometers. The guided tour of the ice palaces reveals stunning crystal-clear beauty and magnificent illuminated formations, lasting approximately 70 minutes.
Be prepared for the constant zero-degree temperature inside the caves, and ensure you have warm clothing and sturdy footwear. The journey to the ice cave involves a 40-minute hike, and once inside, you'll encounter 1,400 steps and a 134-meter change in altitude. It's recommended to have good physical fitness for this icy adventure.
Alternatively, you can choose to visit the historic Fortress Hohenwerfen, a remarkably preserved fortress that boasts over 900 years of history. Daily guided tours and an impressive falcon show at 3:15 pm offer a captivating experience.
