Full description
Drive a snowmobile through Lapland's taiga on a linear route across frozen rivers and forests, with regular rest stops and a hot campfire lunch.
This snowmobile expedition is designed for those who want to experience Lapland's wilderness beyond the usual tourist tracks. After pickup in Kiruna, gear fitting and a safety briefing, a linear, point-to-point route begins between Poikkijärvi and Svappavaara.
Unlike tours that circle a closed track, this route of up to 40 km never backtracks: it crosses frozen riverbeds, deep snowdrifts and dense taiga forests, with a constantly changing landscape. To keep the ride accessible even for first-time drivers, there are short, regular rest stops to relax, enjoy the silence of the far north and take photos.
Midway, the engines are switched off deep in the woods for a campfire lunch, with hot stew, sausages, hot drinks and snacks, while the guide shares stories before the second leg of the route. On reaching the final point, you return to Kiruna.
This is a demanding experience, designed for travellers who want to feel the Arctic climate up close and return home with a real adventure story. It is suitable for any adult of average fitness who realistically assesses their own capabilities.
