The four-day tour is a complete immersion into Classical Greece, combining the treasures of the Peloponnese with the geological and spiritual wonder of Meteora. The journey begins with a stop to admire the crucial Corinth Canal before heading to the powerful Argolis region. In Mycenae, the city of the Atreides, we will explore the impressive ruins of the Mycenaean civilization, including the Cyclopean Walls, the Lion Gate, and the majestic Treasury of Atreus or Tomb of Agamemnon. The immersion in Antiquity continues at the Sanctuary of Asclepius in Epidaurus, a famous healing center and birthplace of the theater, whose ancient example is acclaimed for its acoustics and harmony. The first day's tour culminates by traversing the central Peloponnese to stay in Olympia.
The second day is dedicated to the immortality of the Olympic Games in the idyllic valley of Olympia. We will visit the remains of the sports facilities such as the gymnasium and palaestra, the workshop of Phidias, and the sanctuary that housed the Olympian Zeus, one of the seven wonders of the Ancient World. After a tour of the Stadium and the Archaeological Museum of Olympia, the journey takes us north. We will cross the imposing Rio-Antirio suspension bridge, one of the largest engineering works of its kind in the world, and continue to Delphi, where we will spend the second night. The third day dawns in Delphi, the "navel of the universe" and center of the influential Oracle of Apollo. We will walk the Sacred Way up to the Temple of Apollo, admiring votive treasuries such as the Treasury of the Athenians. The visit to the Delphi Museum is mandatory to see the copy of the omphalos and the famous statue of the Charioteer of Delphi. In the afternoon, we travel north, making a brief stop at the strategic Thermopylae pass, before arriving in Kalambaka for the third and final night.
The grand finale of this adventure is the visit to Meteora, a unique geological phenomenon of "rocks suspended in the air." This authentic forest of gigantic crags is crowned by famous cenobitic monasteries founded in the 14th century. Although it reached its peak with 24 centers, today we will have the opportunity to explore two of these monasteries, unique in the world and a testament to the solitude sought by the first anachorets of the 11th century. After this unparalleled experience, we will return to Athens, saying goodbye to Mount Parnassus and the picturesque town of Arahova, a popular ski destination.
