Explore the profound history of Delphi and admire the breathtaking natural wonder of Meteora on this two-day circuit. The journey begins by heading towards the foothills of Mount Parnassus, home to Delphi, the legendary "navel of the universe" and a main religious center of Antiquity. Pilgrims came here to consult the Oracle of Apollo, whose predictions influenced the known world. We will walk the Sacred Way, which ascends to the Temple of Apollo, admiring votive treasuries such as the Treasury of the Athenians. The immersion in the site is completed with a visit to the Delphi Museum, a fundamental space exhibiting the copy of the omphalos and the perfectly preserved statue of the Charioteer of Delphi.
The rest of the first day consists of a journey north, making a brief stop at the famous Thermopylae pass, a place of great geo-strategic importance in Antiquity. We will continue our route through picturesque landscapes until we reach the town of Kalambaka, located beneath the imposing massifs of Meteora, where we will have dinner and stay in 3 or 4-star hotels to prepare for the following day.
The second day brings us to Meteora, a unique geological phenomenon of "rocks suspended in the air" that rise above the Peneus valley. The tops of these crags are crowned by celebrated cenobitic monasteries, whose origin dates back to the 11th-century anchorites and which reached their greatest splendor between the 15th and 16th centuries. We will have the opportunity to visit two of these monasteries, unique in the world, which testify to the religious history and impressive architecture of the region. After exploring this unparalleled natural and spiritual marvel, we begin the return journey to Athens, concluding an unforgettable circuit.
