Discover the profound historical significance of the Mauthausen Concentration Camp on our private full-day tour. Located in Upper Austria, this site was one of the largest labor camp complexes during the Third Reich.
Between 1938 and 1945, Mauthausen and its 40 sub-camps served as the epicenter of political, social, and racist persecution by the National Socialist Regime. Thousands of individuals from across Europe were deported to Mauthausen, enduring brutal conditions and facing the highest mortality rates. Tragically, around 200,000 people were imprisoned here, with at least half losing their lives.
Upon arrival, you'll have the opportunity to explore the preserved historic premises of the Mauthausen Memorial using audio guides. Witness the Wiener-Graben quarry, known as the "Stairway of Death," the SS-Quarters, the Camp Prison, and the haunting Gas Chamber. Additionally, visit the Mauthausen Museum, which features rotating exhibitions, and pay your respects in the solemn "Room of Names."
