Embark on a fascinating adventure to the Quebrada de Humahuaca, a natural and cultural treasure recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Departing from Salta city, this tour takes us north via National Routes 9 and 34, through breathtaking landscapes and into the heart of Jujuy’s most iconic towns. Just a few kilometers from the Bolivian border, this region offers a rich blend of history, vibrant colors, and centuries-old traditions.
Throughout the journey, we’ll visit the picturesque villages of Volcán, Purmamarca—home to the stunning Hill of Seven Colors—Tilcara, known for its archaeological significance, and Humahuaca, the largest town in the valley. In Uquía, we’ll discover a 17th-century church that houses the famous Cuzco-style "Archangel with Arquebus" paintings. We'll also stop in Huacalera, where we cross the imaginary line of the Tropic of Capricorn, and in Maimará, to admire the colorful Painter’s Palette hill.
Our longest stop will be in Humahuaca, where you’ll have two to three hours to explore the town and enjoy a traditional lunch featuring regional specialties like llama meat. This is a place where Andean culture comes alive through music, crafts, and festive traditions. Humahuaca is also one of the main centers of Carnival celebration in the region, a time when the streets overflow with energy and color.
The return to Salta follows the same scenic route, with new photo stops to admire the Quebrada from a different perspective. This tour is perfect for those who wish to connect with the ancestral spirit of northern Argentina and explore one of the country’s most impressive regions through nature, culture, and heritage.
