Full description
Experience an unforgettable minitrekking adventure with crampons across the Perito Moreno Glacier sailing on Rico Lake from the Bajo de las Sombras port
Venture into the majestic Los Glaciares National Park on this minitrekking experience across the Perito Moreno Glacier, a declared World Heritage Site. The adventure begins at the Bajo de las Sombras port, where you will board a boat to cross Rico Lake, sailing in front of the towering southern wall of the glacier before disembarking on the opposite shore to be welcomed by expert bilingual mountain guides.
After walking along the lakeshore watching for potential ice calvings and attending a glaciology talk, you will be fitted with crampons and a helmet at the edge of the glacier. You will then embark on a medium-difficulty circuit over a firm, safe icy surface to discover deep crevasses, blue sinkholes, massive seracs, and turquoise lagoons. The walking route continues across the periglacial zone, the lateral moraine with panoramic views, and a trail through the Patagonian Andean forest before boarding the boat back to port.
Please note that this activity has strict age and medical restrictions and requires submitting passport or identity document details for all passengers in advance to confirm the booking. The service does not include transfers from El Calafate, a visit to the glacier walkways, or food, with no places to purchase food along the route, nor does it include admission to Los Glaciares National Park (approximately 50,000 ARS to be paid at the destination).
