The Blue Safari is an ideal option for those who dream of getting up close and personal with the Perito Moreno Glacier, without having to hike on the ice like a mini-trek. This activity is designed for those who want to touch the glacier with their own hands, enjoying its majesty with moderate and accessible physical demands.
The excursion begins in El Calafate, with a bus transfer to Los Glaciares National Park. Upon arriving at Puerto Bajo de las Sombras, located just 7 km from the footbridges, we will embark for a cruise on Lago Rico. After a 20-minute crossing, we will disembark on the opposite shore, facing the imposing south face of the Perito Moreno Glacier.
Accompanied by a specialized guide, we will begin an approximately 30-minute hike through a fascinating natural setting, always with views of the glacier. With luck, we may witness some of its impressive calving events. Upon reaching the ice, we will enjoy a unique moment: touching the Perito Moreno Glacier, observing its incredible blue hues, intense whites, and shapes sculpted by nature up close. This direct contact with the glacier, surrounded by a pure and silent environment, is an experience that will remain etched forever.
The entire hike lasts about an hour and a half, following sandy and rocky trails with some gentle slopes and stairs. The route borders the lake and crosses a section of Andean Patagonian forest, always offering stunning views of the glacier front.
After the experience on the ice, we will return to the dock for a scenic cruise just a few meters from the glacier. Back on dry land, the tour continues to the glacier walkways, where you'll have two free hours to explore the various panoramic balconies and enjoy a picnic with unforgettable views.
