Enjoy a full-day tour in Italian from Edinburgh to the Scottish Highlands, with stops in Glencoe, Fort Augustus, Inverness and the picturesque town of Pitlochry.
This full-day tour departs from Edinburgh towards the Scottish Highlands. Along the way, the silhouette of Stirling Castle and the William Wallace Monument can be seen from the bus window, before crossing The Trossachs National Park. After leaving Callander behind, the first stop is at Kilmahog, the gateway to Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.
The route continues through mountains, lochs and valleys to Rannoch Moor, before crossing Glencoe Valley, one of Scotland's most beautiful and photographed landscapes, where the Three Sisters can be seen. Before reaching Loch Ness, a stop is planned at the Commando Memorial, a monument dedicated to the elite troops trained in the Highlands during World War II, from where, weather permitting, Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the United Kingdom, can be seen. This stop is only made if the tour is running on schedule; in case of delay, it is skipped.
At Fort Augustus, where the Caledonian Canal's lock system connects the waters of the Great Glen, there is free time to explore the historic site and, for those who wish, join an optional cruise on Loch Ness. Later, the tour reaches Inverness, where you can walk through the Old Town, visit Inverness Cathedral by the River Ness and enjoy a stroll among its colorful houses and lush riverside vegetation.
The last stop is Pitlochry, a picturesque Victorian town with free time to walk its streets, visit its traditional shops and try its famous whisky ice cream before heading back to Edinburgh. On the way back, the route crosses the Firth of Forth, taking in the Forth Rail Bridge, a 19th-century feat of engineering declared a World Heritage Site.
