Our introduction to the City of Light will begin on the Rive Gauche, Paris’ Left Bank. This part of the city is known for its meandering cobblestone streets and historic buildings and as the stomping grounds of some of the 20th century’s most celebrated authors. Our route will take us through the famous districts of Saint-Germain-des-Prés with its notable cafés (where the likes of Ernest Hemingway and James Joyce penned their celebrated novels) and to the legendary Latin Quarter. We will then drive along France’s oldest university, the Sorbonne, and we can admire the magnificent Luxembourg Gardens and the imposing Pantheon. Making our way north, we will head onto the Ile-de-la-Cité to have a short stop at Notre-Dame de Paris to discuss the impacts of the recent fire and the future of the building. From here, we will arrive on the Rive Droite, or Right Bank and walk towards the Louvre. We will pass by the main courtyard and the renowned Pyramid, while the guide explain the the grandeur of this royal palace turned art museum in 1793 we will drive along the magnificent Tuileries Gardens and the annex Place de la Concorde with its famous Champs-Élysées. Next, we might see the Palais-Royal before we make our way up a grand boulevard toward the majestic Opéra Garnier and the nearby magnificent Place Vendôme. Next, we will drive to the Arc de Triomphe to admire this important historical axis (which links the East of the city to the West) and discuss its symbolism with our local expert. As a final flourish, we will drive along the Trocadero and will arrive at the basement of the most emblematic monuments of the city - the Eiffel Tower. A great symbol of France, the Eiffel Tower pays tribute to many renowned scientists, engineers and notable figures engraved at the base of the Tower. While we walk to the ticket entrance our guide will start giving an introduction to this structure. Please note that, even if you have Skip the Line ticktes, during busy periods, there may be a wait to clear the line for the stairs and security. If there is a wait, your guide will use this time to explain the fascinating history of the Tower’s creation. As you climb the steps to the first level, you will marvel as City of Light emerges before your eyes while the guide shares the fascinating background of the architectural wonder that made Gustave Eiffel famous. On the first level, which is not regularly included on standard elevator tours, you will have time to take pictures or walk on the 188 ft (57 m) high glass floor. The guide will then lead you up the steps again, to witness more incredible views on the way to the 2nd level observation deck. Here, you'll be able to take in more of the city's most iconic landmarks including the Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Elysses, and Notre Dame while enjoying your guide's insightful and entertaining commentary. After seeing the city from the second floor, enjoy some free time or go to the summit of the 3rd level if you have booked the optional ticket to the summit. This last climb will be by the comfort of an elevator for the highest panoramic views that the city has to offer.
Once you are finished admiring the spectacular views, we will go down again to the base of the tower where our driver will wait for us to return to the hotel. You can also choose to be drop off at any other part of the city to continue your Parisian adventure!
